FAQ

Cost, data residency, consent, ad blockers, iOS, cross-domain funnels, WordPress, ClickFunnels and Webflow installs, deleting data.

Short answers to the questions media buyers ask most, with a pointer to the guide that goes deeper.

How much does it cost?#

Plans are priced on sessions (one visit to one of your sites, closed after 30 minutes of inactivity). Every feature is on every plan: unlimited sites and funnels, segments, Meta and Google sync, sales attribution, experiments, the MCP server and the API. Test sessions are never counted. The current plans and limits are on the pricing section of the homepage; prices exclude VAT.

Where is my data stored?#

In the European Union. The database and authentication run on Supabase in Frankfurt; the tracker, the API and the dashboard run on Cloudflare's network. Ad-platform credentials are encrypted before they are stored and are never shown again in the dashboard. Emails and phone numbers are stored as one-way hashes unless you explicitly switch on raw storage for a site.

That depends on your legal situation, not on RetaFunnel. The tracker adapts to it through the site's consent mode: Auto (default) measures the visit anonymously until the visitor accepts your banner (Cookiebot, Iubenda, Complianz and IAB TCF banners are detected automatically), then switches on the persistent visitor id and the ad-platform matching; Strict sends nothing before consent; Implied tracks fully from the first page view. The mode is chosen per site and can be overridden on a single page. Before consent, in Auto and Strict modes, a visitor cannot be sent to Meta or Google at all. See Getting started, step 2.

How long until data shows up?#

  • A page view appears on Overview and in Sessions within about a minute (the tracker sends in 5-second batches; the server processes them asynchronously).
  • A session's final figures (active time, exit page) are fixed when it closes: 30 minutes after the last activity, checked every 5 minutes.
  • Segments are recomputed, and Meta / Google syncs sent, every 15 minutes.
  • Ad names and spend are pulled from the platforms every 6 hours.
  • Daily charts group by UTC day, so late-evening visits in Italy land on the next day's bar.

Do ad blockers affect it?#

Some strict blockers stop third-party analytics scripts and may stop rf.js too; those visits are not measured. There is no reliable way to quote a percentage: it depends on your audience (desktop tech audiences block more, mobile social audiences very little). Everything that was measured is sent to Meta and Google from RetaFunnel's servers, so blockers never affect the events the ad platforms receive.

What about iOS and Safari?#

Safari limits how long a script-set cookie survives (about 7 days without a return visit), so a visitor who comes back after two weeks on iPhone may count as a new visitor; attribution inside the 7 days is unaffected. Events are sent to Meta server-side with Meta's own identifiers, which is exactly what Meta recommends for iOS traffic, so a Lead or Purchase is not lost because the browser blocked the Pixel.

Can one funnel span several domains?#

Yes. Add every domain to the site's Allowed origins and list the other domains in the data-domains attribute of the script tag (for example data-domains="checkout.yourbrand.com, book.yourbrand.com"). When a visitor clicks a link to one of those domains the tracker adds the visitor id to the link, so the visitor stays the same person on the other side and the funnel steps connect. An AI agent sets this up when it knows the domains.

Can I track several sites or several clients?#

Create one site per domain (or per group of pages that share a script tag) and use the Site filter at the top to look at one at a time. For separate clients create one workspace each (workspace switcher at the top of the sidebar): data, ad connections and team members never mix between workspaces, and an AI setup link only ever works inside the workspace that created it.

How do I install the tag on WordPress, ClickFunnels or Webflow?#

Copy the script tag from Sites → your site → Install, then:

  • WordPress: Appearance → Theme file editor is risky; use a header-code plugin (WPCode, "Insert Headers and Footers") → Header box → paste → save. With Elementor Pro: Elementor → Custom Code → add → location <head> → paste → publish.
  • ClickFunnels (Classic): open the funnel → Settings → Head Tracking Code → paste → save (applies to every step). For a single step: the step's Settings → Tracking Code → Header. ClickFunnels 2.0: Site → Settings → Custom code → Head.
  • Webflow: Project settings → Custom code → Head code → paste → save and publish. For one page only: page settings → Custom code → Inside <head> tag.
  • Framer, Carrd, Systeme.io, Kajabi, Shopify: look for "Custom code", "Head code" or "Tracking code" in the site or page settings.

Then verify with ?_rf_test=1 as in Getting started, step 4. Buttons, forms and videos get stable names through small attributes (data-track, data-track-form, data-video-id); most builders let you add attributes per element in its settings.

How do I delete data?#

  • Raw events are deleted automatically after the workspace's retention period (Settings → Workspace → Raw event retention, 7 to 730 days; default 90). Per-session facts and daily totals are kept so your charts do not change.
  • Test data: Sites → your site → Test mode → Purge test data, or Settings → Danger zone to purge every site. Test rows older than 7 days are deleted every night anyway.
  • A person (a GDPR request): write to hello@retafunnel.com with the lead's email; the person, their visitors and sessions are removed and they are queued for removal from any synced audience.
  • A site: Sites → site → Settings → Delete.
  • The whole workspace: Settings → Danger zone → Delete workspace (owner only; removes sites, funnels, segments, integrations, keys and all data).

Who can see what?#

Three roles, set in Settings → Members: owner (everything, including deleting the workspace), admin (configuration, integrations, keys, members, test mode), member (read-only dashboard). Nobody, not even the owner, can read a saved Meta token, Google secret or Stripe signing secret back; they can only replace them. Visitors' emails and phones are stored as hashes. An AI setup link sees only its own workspace and only what its scopes allow (setup, read, write), and every call it makes is logged.

Where do I purge test data, and what counts as test data?#

A visit is test data when the first page was opened with ?_rf_test=1, when the script tag had data-test="true", when the page called rf.testMode(true), when the site was in site-level test mode (Sites → Test mode, usually switched on by an AI agent for 30 minutes), or when it was simulated. Fake purchases with a …@retafunnel.test email are test outcomes. Test data is excluded from every report, segment and sync, is visible only through the Show test data switch, and is purged from Sites → Test mode → Purge test data or automatically after 7 days.

Why does a page say "No live data yet"?#

The Show test data switch is off and nothing live matches the current filters. In order of likelihood: nobody has visited a page with the tag outside test mode yet; site-level test mode is still on (every visit is stored as test data; the dashboard shows a banner); the date range or site filter excludes the data; the page address is not in the site's allowed origins so the server refused the events (Sites → Install → Install health shows the last event received). The demo workspace is entirely test data, so with the switch off it is empty by design.

Does RetaFunnel replace the Meta Pixel or the Google tag?#

No; keep them. RetaFunnel adds what they cannot see (scroll, video, quiz steps, clicks by name, offline sales) and sends events from the server so iOS and ad blockers do not lose them. Each server event carries an event_id, so Meta can discard the duplicate browser event when your Pixel sends the same id; if it does not, stop firing Lead and Purchase from the Pixel and let RetaFunnel send them. See Connect Meta.

Can I retarget people who never gave an email?#

On Meta, yes: every synced segment fires a Conversions API event named Seg_<segment> for each visitor who enters it, with Meta's own browser identifiers, and you build a Website Custom Audience on that event in Ads Manager (Connect Meta, step 7). On Google, no: Customer Match works only on identified people (email or phone), so Google audiences are limited to segments of leads and customers.

Can I use it without an AI agent?#

Yes. Paste the script tag yourself, add the attributes from the Instrumentation guide to buttons, forms and videos, and use the dashboard for everything else. The agent is a shortcut, not a requirement.
